Rekha's Testimony
My mother belonged to a poor family in Nepal and she got married when she was a teenage girl. When I was 5 months old my father left us and remarried another woman for dowry. Life was very hard for my mother because we did not have any money or food. She struggled a lot to take care of me and herself. Eventually she gave up, so she took me to my father's house and left me there while she went back to her mother’s house.
Few months later, she was trafficked by a woman who gave her false hope of better life and job. She was drugged and when she woke up she was in the brothel of India, thousands miles away from Nepal. There she spent 5 miserable years in the darkness without any hope, into forced prostitution and physical and mental torture.
While my mother was suffering in India, I was suffering in Nepal. I was abused by my mean step-mother everyday. She treated me like a slave and she used to beat me and threaten me. I was denied any education, proper food or nice clothes but my half brother had everything. I used to feel lonely and abandoned and I thought I didn't have any future.
But one day, a lady named Bimala visited Red Light Area of Mumbai and met my mother. Bimala Thapa is a founder of Asha Nepal, a safe haven in Nepal for women/child rescued from brothels. Bimala rescued my mother from the brothels and brought her back to Nepal. When my mother came to Nepal, she told Bimala about me and they both made a plan to find me. My mother and Bimala came to my village several times to look for me but they could not find me because my step mother hid me so I could continue to work as a slave in her house.
BUT one day by God’s grace, they finally found me and we ran away from my village to Asha Nepal. In Asha Nepal, I had a privilege to go to school, eat good food, nice clothes and thing I never had before. I also found a new loving family and friends and Bimala, who became my big Big mommy.
God is good all the time and He knows our heart. He is my shepherd and he guides me in the paths of righteousness, he comforts me from his words (Psalm 23). All my painful experiences have helped me to realize that God is there for me. Jeremiah 29:11 became real to me: I know that God has a good plan for my life; whatever He does is to prosper me, to give me hope and a future. I have even felt His mercy upon me in my day to day life. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior when I was 9 years old and keep learning about Jesus. When I knew Jesus more deeply; I used to think about going to Bible College one day.
Years later, January of 2016 another big miracle happened: I got into Pacific Rim Christian University, in Hawaii. Currently I live with Yojana Tsui and I am perusing my bachelor degree in Christian Ministry. My mission is finish school and be involved in mission work.
There are many orphans, poor and abandoned children in world. Most of these children are either victims or vulnerable to Human Trafficking. They feel hopeless, fight with loneliness and are broken in their life. I want to rescue them and keep them in a safe shelter. I want those children who are hopeless to find hope in Christ. I have the desire to do ministry among women who have gone through a bitter life experience and have no hope. I want them to know God and help them to have a new hope in Christ by counseling, motivating, encouraging them through Bible and my life testimony. I want to spread a gospel and, I want to share love and hope of Christ to all.
